Email us with a brief description and photo (optional) of your or a friend or family member’s yard and be entered to win the Guilford Garden Center 2020 Yard of the Month contest! In addition to bragging rights and a winner’s gallery shot on our Facebook Page and other social media, winners will have a “GGC Yard of the Month” sign placed in their yard, and will also receive a FREE hour-long yard/garden consultation, a $75.00 value!

Here’s how it works:
Submit your own landscape (or that of a friend, family member, or neighbor) in the 27410 zip code. Categories can include any (or several) of the following: Curb Appeal, Sunny Border, Winter Interest, Shade Border, Back Yard, Patio Beauty and Functional Foliage. If the entry follows our guidelines, we will drive by the property and take some of our own pictures. The winner of each month’s contest will be notified by the 15th of the following month.

Judging Criteria include:
• First Impression
• Overall Layout and Plan
• Color and Texture (included plants and/or containers and garden art)
• Creativity (use of basic/rare/unusual plants together)
• Functionality (how the planned landscape compliments its use)
• Health of trees, shrubs, flowers and use of groundcovers and mulches
• Value to surrounding wildlife/biodiversity/community

Contest rules: Contest valid for single-family homes located in the 27410 zip code area of Greensboro, NC. Entries for each monthly contest must be received by 11:59 pm the last day of each month. Limit one entry per month per address. By entering, you agree to let us share your information and submitted photos on our web site, on social media, in emails and in any other communications of our choosing. By entering and submitting pictures you are also stating that you have full publishing rights to the photograph you are submitting. If submitting another’s property into the contest, you must include in your email entry both your name and physical address and that of the person you are submitting. Free GGC landscape consultation (value: $75.00) is transferable and can be given/transferred to any homeowner in the 27410 area. Winner of each month’s contest will be notified by email or phone by the 15th of the following month and will be notified as to when the Yard of the Month sign will be placed in their yard. Guilford Garden Center reserves the right to disallow or consider any entry invalid or to change the rules of this contest at any time at its sole discretion.
