Easy care house plants
Fed up of your houseplants not performing, or worse, just flat out dying? Here’s a shortlist of some of the easiest to grow and take care of:
* Spathyphillum(Peace Lily) – Needs little light, and, although it likes regular waterings, it lets you know when water is needed by showing droopiing leaves.
* Pothos(Devil’s Ivy) – A vining plant that even the most enthusiastic plant killer would have a hard time getting rid of! Pothos prefers bright, indirect light, although it will live for shorter periods in less than adequate light conditions.
* Sansevaria(Snake Plant/Mother in Law’s Tongue) – Large, strappy leaved plant that needs very little care indeed. Likes fairly bright, indirect light, and doesn’t require a whole lot of watering.
* Aspidistra(Cast Iron Plant) – This plant is used as a perennial in many areas of the country(including zone7), and it’s name is well deserved. Needs very little light, and very little water.
* Aglaonema(Chinese Evergreen) – Needs very little light to survive, though it does like to be kept slighly (but not overly) moist.
* Schlumbergera(Christmas Cactus) – Not only does this plant need very little care it will also reward you with beautiful blooms late in the year. Prefers bright light.
