What a rare site it was to see such a beautiful snowy scene in North Carolina on Monday.

I got the chance (in between snow angels and snowball fights with my family) to take a couple of photos.

I have only lived in North Carolina for 10 years and I certainly have never seen such a beautiful scene in this area.

In fact if you didn’t know any better you could quite easily think you were in a pine forest in New Hampshire

Of course the difference is, for us it’s such a rare site, whereas in the North they’re probably just a wee bit sick of it all already!

Dogwoods are certainly a pretty site when they bloom, but it’s not very often you get to see them looking like this

The wheelbarrow got a little break from it’s work too (and it’s owner gave himself a lecture on leaving his tools out!)

Thankfully, although I left the wheelbarrow outside to suffer, I did remember to bring some wood inside.

The one thing you can rely on in our state, of course, is that it will start disappearing almost as quickly as it arrived, which is what makes living here so much fun

You could see this morning where snow had melted on the trees and then refroze overnight

Hopefully the cold won’t have harmed all the flowers that were starting to open up throughout the area

I suspect it’ll have been short lived enough that it won’t do too much harm

Of course in typical North Carolina fashion after today’s cold temperatures we are meant to be back to nice warm Spring temperatures this weekend, and all those frosty blooms will start showing us what they’re made of!

Fantastic photographs…they are really lovely and make me just a tiny little bit jealouse…we missed all the forecasted snow storms this year…We could have used the
insulating blanket when the temperatures dropped. Oh the joys of zone 7 gardening! Gail

Thanks Gail, yes your right, you have to love the unpredictability of zone 7!
I must say, though I’m not a big fan of cold weather, it was nice to see a proper snow around here, and just as nice to see it go away again.
Would it be wrong to ask for that to happen just once a year?!
