So, we decided to remove our display pond from the back of the store (because there’s not much point in having a display pond when you don’t sell pond supplies anymore…..psst….ask us about closeouts), so we were pondering what to do with the frame it left behind.
Well, it didn’t take us long to come to the conclusion that it would be perfect for building a raised bed full of lovely, tasty edible stuff!
So, without further ado, we filled it up with some good soil conditioner and organic soil, added some plant-tone, and put up a trellis.
We drew up a plan of what we are going to plant in there (which I have absolutely no doubt we will deviate from once we start fully putting it into practice!).
We have also made the decision to keep the entire process organic (I sincerely hope we absolutely do not deviate from that plan).
We’ve already planted some peas and lettuce in there, but as the season progresses we hope we’ll fill it up with all sorts of tasty stuff.
Of course we also know we need to do a good job so that you can see, and taste, the benefits of growing your own edibles. We also have to keep it nice because certain customers will put us to shame if we don’t!

I can’t wait to come by and see it. I’m sure my vegetable patch will be the one put to shame!
Well, we’ll see David.
We are very good talkers here at the garden center, but now it’s time to “put our money where our mouths are”, and practicing what you preach always seems to get a little trickier in the midst of Spring!
